gstreamer <-> pulseaudio <-> chromium, ALSA weirdness?

Hi,

I ported my Docker image from Ubuntu, things went pretty well, I got all the packages relocated to their `apk` equivalents. Things were good, I had chrome, pulse, gstreamer up and sending out content and it looked great, just like in my Ubuntu image, there was one problem, no audio! I spent a day or more debugging, I noticed from differences between how Ubuntu is setup with alsa/pulseaudio configs, one to note that Ubuntu showed `/sbin/alsa` where alpine packages did not, so I assume that's a provided with the kernel? I'm not sure, another is there were a few different/missing configs (/usr/share/alsa/pulse-alsa-conf). I had tested gstreamer with audiotestsrc, and audio would come out fine, so no problem there. The issue seems to be in capturing from chromium (output to pulse or gstreamer capturing pulse). I noticed gstreamer was able to connect as a client to pulse, where chromium wouldn't regardless of how things were configured.

Can any one help, it would be much appreciated!

[Solved] Minidlna server not detected

I am running latest alpine linux on wd mycloud. My minidlna version is 1.2.0-r0. The server works but it is not detected by my Panasonic TV or other dlna clients. I can detect it running from web-browser on port8200. The issue is exactly similar to

My TV occasionally detects the dlna server for few seconds only. So I can just glimpse the name Minidlna on TV screen.

Is it possible to downgrade Minidlna to previous version, as the issue is probably seen with only newer versions?

EDIT: downgraded minidlna to 1.1.5-r3, along with setting "inotify_interval=10", now dlna clients can detect minidlna server.
I think minissdpd can be a better solution but it fails to start, complaining about interface, (either not configured or not up or not found in openrc-run depending on confuguration option I choose) Any idea?

Hi everyone! Alpine 3.5.2 setup on an HP laptop using xfce4. Created sudo user before launching slim, and desktop launches, but having tried installation three times, most times there is no sound in youtube or when other videos play in Firefox; there was no sound on Audacious later on two installations even with Settings/Audio/'SDL Output'. System beeps are heard.

I'm not sure whether the reason for the variations was the different ways of creating a sudo user or some other variation in the installation process.

Other symptoms:-
1. Audio Mixer/'xfce4-mixer' applet launches saying "GStreamer was unable to detect any sound devices. Some sound system specific GStreamer packages may be missing. It may also be a permissions problem."
2. sudo lspci | grep Audio returns nothing.
3. sudo cat /etc/asound.conf returns No such file or directory.

Currently installed packages include: alsa-utils alsaconf pulseaudio@testing aumix sox phonon-backend-gstreamer gst-plugins-bad0.10 gstreamer0.10 gstreamer0.10-tools gstreamer1 gstreamer1-doc gstreamer1-tools gstreamermm@testing ffmpeg fdk-aac@testing audacious-plugins vlc vlc-plugins-codec vlc-qt. However, I did not how to navigate aumix when following the instructions for aumix at https://wiki.alpinelinux.org/wiki/Alpine_Linux:FAQ#How_do_I_play_my_.ogg.2F.mp3_files.3F.

Also tried listing audio cards in desired order under /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf:

options HD-Audio Generic index=1
options HDA ATI HDMI index=0

Could it be a missing instruction, a permissions problem or a missing package?

Hello!

I have a python app that generates PDF base on HTML, i used a library called weasyprint (http://weasyprint.org/) and underliying this uses a lot of libraries like cairo and lxml, i managed to install everything in my image and now my app can run without any exception.

The problems is that the generated PDF looks really really pixelated, i've founded that this is because the fonts i've installed in alpine are low-res font and i managed to fix this in runtime installing fonts from edge community packages, but when i do this in docker image and build it the problem is still happening.

So my question is, how can i generate an alpine based image with good quality fonts installed?

The user is in the audio group, and it worked before.
aplay -L list only the null soundcard, and mpv prints

ALSA lib pcm_hw.c:1713:(_snd_pcm_hw_open) Invalid value for card
[ao/alsa] Playback open error: No such file or directory
[ao/oss] Can't open audio device /dev/dsp: No such file or directory

Under sudo, aplay lists soundcards correctly, and sound works in mpv.
The contents of /dev/snd seem to be readable and writable only by root:

Before flagging it: the handbrake packages are actual on 0.10.x (as in most distributions). Is there any show stopper to have the 1.0.x like 1.0.12? This would be nice because of the v9 codec and some other features.

Hello everybody,

i wonder if someone already build up an Zoneminder package for an ARM Device.
I own an Turris Omnia router and wanna set up a Alpine LXC with Zoneminder, but there is no package out (yet?).
i did not build my own package right now, and have at this moment no idea, how to do this.
If you got another nice suggestion, howto set up a Zoneminder environment with alpine on an arm device, i am happy for your recommendation.
