Hi,

I was introduced to alpine last weekend by a friend. Now grsecurity announced, that patches will be available only to sponsors.
Will this in any way affect this project?

+1, I'd like to understand the impact, too. Would be great if someone close to the project could say a word or two about this, or just state an opinion.

I guess this forum is treated somewhat second priority to the lists..

Here's what I found on this specific topic on the mailing list:

grsecurity announced stable patches won't be publicly available
anymore. Will does affect alpine in any way?

Yes. It affects Alpine. We used the stable patches as reference for
our own port of the grsec patch. We also cherry-picked various of the
upstream security fixes that Grsecurity patch included too.

We are still working on a solution for this.
