Contributing, am I doing it right?

A few days ago I submitted a bug report and subsequently submitted a patch for said bug yesterday but have seen zero responses to either. What, if anything else, do I need to do to get some attention to these contributions?
Edit: All I'd really like to know is did I do things correctly and what, if anything is my next step? If all is good and all I have to do is wait I'd like to know that.

You could chime up on #alpine-devel to see if someone could take a look sooner rather than later
@ScrumpyJack Thanks, I got in contact with the maintainer on #alpine-devel a few days ago and worked everything out. I missed a step or two but the patch has gone through now.
