Hi, I have been exploring Alpine and I like a lot of things about it. I have some issues with the tiny console font size in high resolution displays.

There are many solutions to this; decreasing resolution, trying to change the terminal font but I just discovered fbterm and this could be a good solution for those who do not want to mess around with kernel options and the the framebuffer.

Thers is no fbterm package for Alpine currently, and I am exploring it can be compiled. In the interim can other users please weigh in with their solutions or if anyone is using fbterm. Also would request the maintainers to consider adding fbterm to the package repo.

A frame-buffer terminal seems valuable. One major thing I find disconcerting is that the last update to the source was in 2010. Does anyone know of an alternative that is being actively updated and maintained.

Yes, I guess that can be cause for worry. I haven't got round to exploring compiling it yet. There is also another package called kmscon that is kms based. Will have a look at that too.

In the interim I was more keen to have a look at Xen in Alpine and am making do with the excellent Terminal font. I am using ter-128n and ter-132n and it makes the high resolution display bearable, even comfortable to use, and this has kept me from exploring fbterm issue for now.
