Is there a list of packages that I could remove to trim down the size of the RPi build to make it more like vanilla?

Not sure what you mean with "vanilla".
The RPi image by default is tmpfs install (running from ram), which means it will use the sdcard only as repository and to store lbu overlay (and have /boot of course).

What I'm looking for I guess is a list of packages to strip down the size? Make it more "vanilla". As I understand it, Alpine comes in three flavors, Standard, mini and vanilla. So which one is the RPi compared to those? Is there a installed package list somewhere? Can I run the newer "generic" arm on an RPi?
