Hi to all,
I would like to install an Alpine linux image on AWS. I have found and launched the Alpine 3.6 (ami-fd228a92) on Frankfurt region but I am unable to connect via ssh.
I've tried with root user but it asked me for a password. I double checked my configuration and keys and everything seems normal.
I googled around but I cannot find anything that helps.
Can you please point me to the right direction? Do I need to connect with another user?

As an alternative I tried to follow this guide: http://wiki.alpinelinux.org/w/index.php?title=Install_Alpine_on_Amazon_EC2&redirect=no
I can easily follow the guide till the "lbu package amazon.apkovl.tar.gz" command. In fact as far as I know lbu is an alpine utility. Since I am using an ubuntu ami to build the alpine image how can I use lbu command?

Thanks in advance,
Giorgio Grillini

I have exactly the same problem. There is my question about the problem on ServerFault: https://serverfault.com/questions/875097/alpine-linux-on-aws-ec2-how-to-login-with-my-public-key

What's strange, that I can't find any documentation about AWS Alpine AMI.

Same issue here, tried a variety of user names and such, created a few instances, and tried several different keys. May try building my own ami.

Hi! I found this post, and just wanted to comment to say that I tried the username "alpine" by a process of guesswork, and this works fine. You just have to login with that username, and whichever keypair you chose when launching.
