I know, it's pitiful - but I can't seem to get this thing to even boot.

Here:

http://wiki.alpinelinux.org/wiki/Create_a_Bootable_USB

-it says:

"..Alpine Linux 3.3.0, the generated ISO's are a hybridISO, which means they contain a valid MBR and can be raw copied directly to the USB stick.."

I've got my motherboard on "dual" (both Legacy and MBR).

I've got a USB with an MBR and fat 32 (32 gig).

I'm in Windows and I copy the iso and paste it into the fat 32 partition and I get a "insert boot disk" reference from the mother board.

I've also tried "un-zipping" and just putting the 2 folders and Alpine release file - same response.

I've also tried using Rufus, though contrary to the instructions above (..and it gives me grief with syslinux).

Please help this newb..

-thanks.

..never mind.

perhaps like a previous thread poster, I had boot headers that were causing problems.

I took the same flash drive and did this:

Rufus:

To clear the boot headers:

MBR partition for Bios or UEFI
Fat 32
16kb
Freedos (ISO) format
Start.

*THEN*

MBR partition for Bios or UEFI
Fat 32
4096
Alpine Linux (ISO) format
Start.

Boot's fine now.
