Alpine installed and rebooted without any issues (need to figure networking to stop it looking for eth0!). It is quite an old i686 laptop but was very surprised on how small Alpine system is. Issue I have is on updating system (busybox) I have no longer a working console (just a blank screen).

Tried removing some boot options nomodeset and quiet, but after hardware daemon loads screen goes blank.

Not sure what else to say that my help or to do, can anyone confirm this issue?

I can setup and reboot alpine linux 3.5 just fine.

However, after I setup udev and reboot I experience the same problem.

During the boot process, when "Loading Hardware" (where the screen usually switches to the correct resolution) I get stuck at a blank screen (both x86 and x86_64)

My problems are with the i915 modesetting, adding i915.modeset=0 allows me to boot into a console (without the correct video mode).

Will give it a try, guess it really depends on what graphics system uses... well it worked, need to figure out correct resolution but for now marking as solved.

Thank you
