New HD Install XFCE desktop frozen, no keyboard, mouse

I have this kernel commandline in Grub2, linux /boot/vmlinuz-gresec modules=sd-mod,usb-storage,ext3 quiet.
When it boots, I get these mesages, loads lo, the0, etc, no iptables etc. installed rc-service lxdm start.
Frozen desktop
It stops freezing and is usable when I use setup-xorg-base each time. it does
1. start udevd
2. udev-mount
3. udev-unmount.
I would like it to stick.
Also I have no sound, when I use any multimedia packages, gstreamer was unable to determine any sound device, gstreamer specific packages may be missing or have wrong permisisons.
I have installed gst-plugins, gst-plugins-good, gst-plugins-bad, alsa-lib, alsa-utils. yet alsaconf does not find any audio device.
Got this working, but have new issues with compiling some software, that in a new post.
