I just installed Alpine on my ancient IBM ThinkPad T43 and it seems to work OK. I had some troubles installing Awesome WM (some packages were not picked up by dependencies and I had to figure it out) but in the end it's up and running:) But when it's loaded I cannot do pretty much anything as I don't have any xterm installed. And I was checking packages with apk command but couldn't find anything familiar. Could somebody tell me please what I should use instead of aterm?

You can use rxvt-unicode or st.

aterm is deprecated but IMHO xterm should be packaged because some WM request for it.
