Hello!

I installed Alpine to a usb stick today (diskless mode) and am thoroughly enjoying exploring it. Things went more smoothly once I got the hang of remembering to "lbu commit" before shutting down!

I have installed xorg and xfce and have done some tweaking, but I have one major problem: Firefox is impossible to use. The problems include:

* the address bar and search bar text boxes display invisible text. I know the text is there, because if I type an address blindly and hit enter I will be taken to the new webpage.

* menu items are missing text.

* pop up windows such as the history window are very narrow, can't be widened and lack text

* the main menu (accessed from the menu button) appears as a narrow vertical strip: the icons are half visible, but no text.

I thought these might be problems resulting from running as root, but the same problems are there after I created an ordinary user to log in with. I also wondered if it might be video driver problems, but Gimp runs perfectly.

Any suggestions?

I'm enjoying Alpine so far and hope to be able to use it as a "portable" distro. (Slackware is my main distro.)

You can try another font. Example (with Luxi Truetype fonts):
apk add font-bh-ttf

Then, on Xfce, go to Menu->Settings->Appearance->Fonts tab and change
default font (and size if it's needed).
