Hi All,

I've already started my adventure with alpine linux and I'm under impression of its functionality while I noticed some difficulties with collecting documentation I need.
To make easier browsing system directories and reading config files I decided to install graphical environment.
I followed http://wiki.alpinelinux.org/wiki/XFCE_Setup web page and when I reached the point to configure X server I stopped. Xorg -configure doesn't work reporting there is no hardware to configure and the file `/root/xorg.conf.new` is not created.
Could you please look through this XFCE Setup How To and identify possible gap in it or deliver me any suggestion how to solve this problem?

Thanks in advance,

Zenon

That procedure left me short too, and I get the same message still. However for my system (AMD) X11 self-configures and Xfce4 works anyway. There are a few issues I came here to try and sort out. Hope they can fix the procedure so more people don't end up stuck!

teachop,
Thanks for your replay. I finally managed to run XFCE4 while I still don.t understand this new method of configuring xorg server. I found in the net that it's related with new version of xorg rather than with alpine linux.

Best Regards,

Zenon
