I try to build a whole suite of docker containers based on Alpine. Having succeeded for quite a number of containers, I now want to realize mysql replication / load balancing / failover with xinetd. Unfortunately, there is no such package.

I have installed g++ and make and the xinetd source, but now I run into a lot of problems with make. Apart from this, this container weighs in at 157 MB versus 7 MB without g++, so it doesn't make sende to leave it here -- a package would be the solution (xinetd by itself is quite small).

Also, I had a brief look at how to make an Alpine package, but I'm afraid it doesn't make sense to spend much time and effort to do it right for just this one-time-job.

Who would be proficient and knowlegable to do this job for the sake of many and also be so kind to do it?

You could put a package request in for xinetd at http://bugs.alpinelinux.org
