Hello,

i really like the idea of a low noise linux system, especially for servers. I currently use debian for all my servers, and it is okay. My major problem with almost all Linux distrinutions is, that the service software versions are linked to the operating system versions. I would like to upgrade to the latest OS version, but keep the service versions e.g. apache/php/postfix/dovecot etc. until i have to time migrate them.
AlpineLinux would be the perfect server, if you could provide this kinde of support: provide many major/minor version tuples with security updates for a longer time.

You can using edge to get the latest OS version, but do not install the service (apache/php/postfix/dovecot) to reach your goal.

For the security updates needed, you can pick apk from http://dl-3.alpinelinux.org/alpine/latest-stable/ branch.
