Good evening,
I've been re-building my Alpine installation, and I'm having trouble deciding on which font(s) to install.
One issue is the finding the font packages!
In the wiki there's a Package naming policy, https://wiki.alpinelinux.org/wiki/Package_policies. But font packages are absent from the policy.
A lot of the font packages begin with font- but not all of them. I think it would be very helpful if the policy required font packages to begin with font-. I realise this means there's a few packages that need to renamed to adhere to the standard (most packages that being with ttf-.
Hopefully this was the right place to raise this question.
Thanks,
my favorite is 'Lato'
http://www.latofonts.com/lato-free-fonts/
Lato is in mny distribution.
in my opinion big fonts like a https://www.google.com/get/noto/ is not good idea. Alpine linux is small.
Is there an Alpine package for lato? I can't seem to find one?!
in fedora
https://pkgs.org/fedora-24/fedora-i386/lato-fonts-2.015-2.fc24.noarch.rpm.html
in ubuntu http://packages.ubuntu.com/search?keywords=fonts-lato
in Alpine i'm not found.
Hmm, they look nice.
But the difference in size is minimal (about 4MB more installed for the Noto fonts). I would rather stick with existing Alpine packages so I can leverage apk to manage my installation.
Do you plan on building a fonts-lato package for Alpine?
Also, I don't see anywhere if Lato has emoji characters? Does if it support emoji?
BTW, your fedora link doesn't work.
no i 'm not planning make any package
i'm canot know how to do this, and my english is too little to do this.
Lato not have any emoji
