testing built packages

I came here asking the same question as there is little published about this explicitly and can only offer this after digging into alpinelinux/abuild source code:

• there is a check() function referenced in sample.APKBUILD that allows you to hook into the build process
• the sample above assumes anyone wanting to do this would follow the autotools approach which I'm still sifting through
• pretty neat you can set the REQUIRE_CHECK environment variable and abuild will make sure there is a check() function
• if you're building your alpine package from within a docker container, I suggest looking at andyshinn/docker-alpine-abuild container as it mounts volumes where abuild will put the resulting packages so you can pull them out to be used elsewhere
• lastly it looks like there is a warning for APKBUILD files without check() function as alpine policy requires testsuites
